Gettysburg: Honor Our Nation's History

**Please bring a portable bag chair and good walking shoes for the 4th of July celebration and the Gettysburg reenactment.**



Day 1: Wednesday - July 3rd:

  • Depart early this morning for Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Travel time from Oneonta is approximately 4.5 hours.

  • A rest and an included lunch stop will be made en route.

  • Approximate arrival in Gettysburg will be 12:30pm (pending traffic)

  • Upon arrival, you will be taken to the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitors Center for a visit to the Cyclorama, the musuem which includes a movie and a guided Gettysburg Battlefield Tour.

  • Next, we depart for our accommodations for the next two nights at the Courtyard By Marriot Gettysburg to check-in.

  • There will be a short amount of time to freshen-up.

  • Depart for an included dinner with "Abe Lincoln" at the historic Dobbin House Restaurant, the oldest building in Gettysburg.

  • Return to the hotel following dinner. The rest of the evening is free.


Day 2: Thursday - July 4th:

  • A breakfast buffet is included before departure this morning.

  • Depart for a visit to the Eisenhower National Historic Site for a scheduled visit.

  • Lunch is included at general Pickett's Buffet with General and Mrs. Lee.

  • Following lunch, visit the Adams County Winery for a tour and tasting.

  • This afternoon, you are off to the Shriver House Museam and Saloon where you will hear stories from the cibvilians during the Battle and 19c kitchen.

  • Return to the hotel to freshen-up before this evenings activity.

  • Tonight, you are off to the Gettysburg 4th of July Celebration at Gettysburg College.Dinner is included and is a box dinner to take with you. You will need to bring a chair to this event. Sit back and enhoy the popular local band, The Willys. They will kick off the evening with a 90-minute set. Afterwards, the Gala Pops Orchestra will perform a concert featuring popular American tunes and marches. Immediately following the musical performance, guests will have a front row view of the fireworks display sponsored by Destination Gettysburg.

  • Return to the hotel at the conclusion of the fireworks.


Day 3: Friday - July 5th:

  • A breakfast buffet is again included before departure this morning.

  • This morning we deoart for the Gettysburg Reenactment - you will need a good pair of walking shoes and your chair for this event. Lunch is on your own at any of the various food trucks.

  • The schedule for the day is as follows:

9:00 a.m. – The Medical Staff discuss their methods to handle the aftermath.

10:00 a.m.– The United States Christian Commission tell of their struggles to help the soldier.

11:00 a.m. – BATTLE: Fearful Probe of Destiny (Cavalry)

2:00 p.m. – Actor & Historian Patrick Falci talks about the making of  the movie                    “Gettysburg.”

1:00 p.m. – Live Mortar Fire Demonstration.

  • Depart for home at approximately 2:00pm.

  • A dinner stop will be made en route home.
